Been thinking a lot recently about my future and by extension the general future for those who are deeply desiring to glorify God with their lives here in America. Or anywhere in the west for that matter. In a sense it seems so dark and hopeless.
I mean think about it! Just thinking about America now. Our country is in the darkest state it has ever been. You just need to take a quick stroll down the street to see how wicked it is getting. The filthy, sensual and materialistic attitude that pervades our culture is impossible to escape. There seems to be nowhere to run as even the churches, which used to be standing against the tide of secularistic poppycock have now bought it hook, line and sinker and are almost worse to sit around in than your friendly neighborhood strip club.
Seeing the depth to which we have sunk not only among the pagans but among the “redeemed” one is tempted to despair of the future. Where, for example can you go to fellowship with other believers when the churches are either heretical or just dead in their orthodoxy? Where does one find a mate that is anywhere near acceptable in a culture dead set on only looking at and living for the fleshly, shallow things of life? And how is one to try to change this world and lift up the banner of Christ when every time we utter a peep the resistance is furious? “How dare you say such a thing, you arrogant bigot!!”
So, yeah, now after laying out how wicked everything is and how bleak the future looks I am now ‘supposed’ to give a little hope. So here goes…
Expect to be opposed by those you love.
Expect to be attacked spiritually and physically for your stand for Christ.
Expect to struggle to find a mate.
Expect to be imprisoned for living your faith outwardly.
Expect to see your children suffer for your faith in Christ.
And finally expect to struggle with your own commitment to living a godly life.
But also expect to be blessed by your God. Expect Him to be faithful to you, conforming you to His perfect image. Expect Him to grant you the souls of your children for your prayers.
Expect to be presented faultless before your King in the end and be told, “Well done good and faithful servant!”
Remember. No promises can be made to you for a good life. No promises for a happy or peaceful time. There are only two promises I can make to you. First, the road will be rough. And secondly, if you serve the King with all your heart He will be with you and exalt you in the end.
So in all things I beg you. Heed Christ when He said not to lay up treasures here on this earth. But instead as Paul did 2000 years ago run with purpose toward that great and final goal.
To God be all the glory for He alone is worthy!!!
