Don’t know if anyone else has ever noticed this before but people are obsessive. Whether it is Sports or anything else on the planet we (especially men) tend to get absorbed in something to the extent that it unhealthily consumes us.
I tend to get obsessive over theological things. Thru some debate or a biblical passage or something my mind will start to race along those lines and it might be a month before I get off of this track.
Specifically what encouraged me to write this was seeing many good friends of mine often losing focus on what we are to be obsessed with. Within the past two years I have been in the company of many calvinists and it seems to be a reoccurring problem that they often set up this doctrine as the center of everything. Now they would not say in so many words but if what you talk about is a indicator of your chief interest then the doctrines of grace so consume them that I am sure they would die a million deaths to sit and learn at the feet of John Calvin.
Now I am a calvinist but this is NOT the center of my identity. I do hold to the doctrines of grace but Christ and His glory is my central pursuit. Let us be very careful not to let our interest in any doctrine or for that matter anything else overshadow our main goal of honoring the King of kings.
So, with everything we must be on guard to throughout it all place Christ in first place in our priorities.
We should be obsessive but not over anything but the glory of our King!
All for the Lamb that was slain!!
